Russell previously represented Ascendant on the board of Watermark Lodging Trust.

Alex Halpern

Alex is responsible for the oversight of Ascendant's investment activities and the management of its hospitality and select residential investments. Alex represented Ascendant on the boards of Watermark Lodging Trust and DC Blox, is an active board member Sentral, and serves as board observer of Mesquite Gaming and Sotherly Hotels.

Eric Calder

Prior to joining Ascendant Capital Partners, Eric Calder was the Co-Chief Investment Officer of Dune Real Estate Partners, a New York City-based real estate investment firm. At Dune, he was a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and led over $6 billion in transactions across the residential, retail, industrial, office and hospitality sectors.

Samantha Lynn
Vice President, Strategic Ops

Samantha Lynn serves as Vice President of Strategic Operations & Asset Management at Ascendant Capital Partners, where she is responsible for developing and implementing asset management strategies that maximize asset value, enhance portfolio performance, and support the firm's investment objectives. She partners closely with acquisitions, property management, and capital projects teams to drive strategic business plans, optimize operations, and create long-term value across the firm's multifamily investments.

Samantha brings more than 12 years of multifamily real estate experience, having held leadership positions with Mill Creek Residential, Greystar, and UDR. Throughout her career, she has overseen a portfolio of more than 10,000 apartment homes representing over $1 billion in assets, including lease up communities, value add and renovation projects, market rate properties, and affordable housing assets. She has led cross functional teams of more than 80 associates, with responsibility for operational strategy, financial results, talent development, and business plan implementation across complex, institutional-quality portfolios. Most recently, she oversaw Mill Creek Residential's Southern California region, focusing on operational excellence and initiatives that strengthened asset performance and long-term investment value.

Samantha earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami, graduating cum laude with a major in Entrepreneurship and minor in Economics.
